Cats edge past Bulldogs in thriller

By Bransen Gibson

Lockington Bamawm United has kept its winning streak alive after a fourth-quarter comeback saw it edge past North Bendigo by 10 points.

The Cats kicked five goals to one in the final term to snatch victory and win their 18th-consecutive game, 12.14 (86) to 12.4 (76). It was a see-sawing encounter, with LBU up by 10 points at quarter-time. But the Bulldogs fought back in the second and third terms, kicking 10 goals to five to hold a 16-point lead at three-quarter time.

With their winning streak under threat though the Cats responded brilliantly, outscoring North Bendigo 33 to seven to clinch a memorable victory.

LBU had four multiple goalscorers on Saturday with Brodie Collins, Coby Cox, Ben Fulford and Thomas Leech each kicking two. Charlie Hinks, Thomas Leech, Joss Howlett and Tyler

Phillips were four of the best players for the Cats.

For North Bendigo, Aarryn Craig and Storm Giri each kicked three goals.

LBU (6-0) sit in second spot on the ladder and is one of two remaining undefeated sides in the HDFL, alongside Colbinabbin (7-0).

The two sides will go headto-head in a blockbuster clash this Saturday afternoon in Colbinabbin, with the winner cementing their spot on top of the ladder.
