Crawley elected new deputy mayor

Murray River Council will continue under the leadership of Mayor Chris Bilkey and a new deputy in Cr Frank Crawley following Tuesday’s deputy mayor election.

Cr Crawley nominated for the role of deputy mayor after the position was vacated by Cr Nikki Cohen.

Cr Crawley was elected unopposed.

Cr Bilkey congratulated Cr Crawley on his new role and thanked Cr Cohen for her contribution as deputy over the past two years.

“Cr Cohen has showed great commitment to her role as deputy and will continue to hold an important role in the chambers,” he said.

“I also welcome Cr Crawley into his new position. Murray River Council is progressing with positive momentum in many areas, so it’s a great time to be a member of council.“
